Nature Multiples by Clare Leighton

£69.95

These are antique book illustrations printed in the 1930’s.  Clare Leighton was one of a number of woodblock artists in this period when the genre was at its most popular for illustration of printed matter.

Only original copies of the published works are used (later reprints are on poorer quality paper and the woodblock is less distinct with age and usage). These prints are taken from full pages and carefully selected for condition and fit, there may be some printing on reverse images but these are not obvious to the eye and the images are presented as a sampler rather than an individual print.  The prints are fixed to conservation standard backing paper and mounted in a white core, acid free conservation extra thick mount board ready for framing. The mount boards have a generous margin to show the prints in the best possible way. The photos include a framed version in painted solid ash presented in a box frame format for best effect. Please contact me if you are interested in a framed copy of have a particular requirement.

Mount size: to fit frame 50 cms x 50 cms

Actual illustration sizes : 8cms x 8cms x 16 images.

I have other prints from this and other artists that can be hung and bought together - see other listings.

Condition: Very good clean and crisp condition . The paper is good quality heavy paper. These are original 1930s print so paper has slightly creamy/yellow appearance but this lends the overall image a nice vintage aspect. Mounts are specifically chosen to work with the paper to show the fine detail of the illustration to best effect. Please feel free to contact me about the condition of any print before purchase. I also offer a framing service to buyers in the UK.
