Bridle Path, Cookham bu Stanley Spencer

£215.00

Bridle paths are, of course, horse riding routes. Spencer uses the path in the foreground to take the eye from left to right, and from there to the hills at the horizon. But most attention is placed on the beauty of the weeds and the grasses in the foreground. It is as if a walker has stopped to notice, to attend to the beauty of these natural forms – the uncultivated poppies, the brambles, the lushness of the grass.

This artwork is a great favourite in my framing studio and is of superb quality both of paper and image reproduction. I originally purchased one for myself as I grew up near Cookham and recall walking on the Common and nearby Winter Hill. The print will be sent in a hard wearing tube, if you are interested in framing and mounting options or have any questions just let me know.
